ELECTROMAGNETICS - Soil & Bedrock Void Detection & Repair

SINKHOLE REPAIRS: Sinkhole excavation.

SINKHOLE REPAIRS: Graded fill and filter fabric.
Bluestone Geologic uses new geophysical techniques to locate sites where underground conditions exist in the limestone bedrock or as soil voids lying at shallow depths beneath fields. Many horse farms in central Kentucky experience collapse where very soluble limestone underlies the surface; and even more often along areas where the structural integrity of the bedrock has been compromised - along faults, fractures, and linear sinkhole and spring conduit trends where dissolution of the limestone is concentrated. Loss or injury of horses has been documented on several farms in Fayette, Woodford, Scott, Bourbon, and Jessamine counties. Our ground surveys can screen >10 acres per day, and prove to be an effective way to quickly locate sites with the potential for future collapse; and 1st phase reconnaissance limits the investigation area to only those fields and paddocks with the greatest risk for failure. Usually 10-20% of the total farm acreage is at greatest risk, resulting in a speedier survey that accurately locates specific sites that require repair, circle fencing, or monitoring for future problems.
ELECTRIC RESISTIVITY - Soil & Bedrock Screening to Clear Sites for Construction
Build Site ER Surveys
Soil electric resistivity (ER) measurements by 4-Point Wenner system taken at commercial and large-scale agricultural construction sites as part of pre-build surveys. ER is measured at specific locations to generate preliminary data at sites followed by geotechnical mapping with soil boring and bedrock coring to further characterize conditions beneath properties planned for new building construction. The ER data is collected quickly, typically less than 1-day survey time, and often with real-time field data used to clear a prospect site for next phase construction, or to pinpoint areas needing further detailed inspection.
